Kanye, Beyonce, Jay Z, & More Team Up To Sue Parisian Fashion Label ElevenParis

French retailer ElevenParis faces a lawsuit from five of the music industry's biggest names.

French clothing line Eleven Paris has been hit with a lawsuit, by five of the biggest names in music over claims that the brand did not seek their approval before using their names, lyrics, and photos on their products.  The complaint was filed with the Southern District of New York against the French clothing company ElevenParis, alleging that the popular retailer unlawfully sold merchandise that was not their intellectual property.

The filing accuses, the French brand of committing more than 50 violations including "publicity violations, wilful trademark infringement, unfair competition and dilution, among a score of other blatant statutory and common law violations." Particularly, the musicians have taken issue with the brand's practice of using the photos, lyrics and names of "some of the most famous musical artists and entrepreneurs in the world" on T-shirts and accessories and commercially exploiting them for profit without permission.

According to reports, the plaintiffs (Pharrell Williams, Beyonce, et al.) sent multiple cease-and-desist letters to the Parisian brand, as the lawsuit details: "Even after receiving warning to cease selling the infringing goods, defendants continue to sell unauthorised products and to trade upon the goodwill associated with the plaintiffs, all for defendants' profits." Yet despite this the suit argues that ElevenParis has continued to offer infringing products for sale across various retailers and at its own flagship in New York City. 

Interestingly, Eleven Paris is a well-liked brand among celebrity names such as Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Jessica Alba and the likes of Kate Moss and even Solange Knowles have modelled their clothes in campaigns. At present, Items featuring the plaintiffs have since been deleted from the ElevenParis website, however the brand continues to offer a "Family Capsule" collection with signals to Karl Lagerfeld, Kate Moss and Coco Chanel on T-shirts, sweatshirts and bags.

The musicians are demanding that Eleven Paris cease the manufacturing of any items featuring the plaintiffs intellectual property, cough up any profits made from the sale of such goods, and cover the cost of legal fees
